    Description

1888 The Game of Yankee Peddler, including Box, Rules and Cards. Publisher: Parker Brothers, Salem, Mass, U.S.A. The box contains enough cards to play the game. But we are not sure if all the cards are all there. All of the rules sheets are included. There are numerous different ways to play depending on the number of participants. The box top reads: "Ye Peculiar Game of Ye Yankee Peddler. Geo. S. Parker & Co. Publishers. Salem, Mass." It is in fair condition. Two parts of the lid are detached; with tape repairs on the edges & corners; small losses to the paper covering & wear to the edges; all of the corners are split; soiling and small stains. The rules are in good condition with creases in several corners, and wavering in the paper. The cards are in good shape. Please see the photos

Rare and fascinating, "1927 Game of "Quizzer Questionnaire," a Board Game for Students and Fun."   Publisher: Stoll &
Edwards Co. Inc. New York City.
The Game Book explains that this game has been designed to increase and stimulate knowledge of children through competition. The game comes with a question book,  a spinner, a board with  all of the states (abbreviated) printed on it (including the District of Columbia), and a box of chips ( pawns) in each of three colors: red, gold and blue.
The book  contains a series of over 1000 questions and answers pertaining to geography, history, government, science, and every day facts of interest.  It can be played by up to three individuals. Or if there are more, the participants can be placed into teams.  A handicap can also be applied for younger players.
The questions are selected by spending a dial two times to pick first a letter and then a number. The game book contains the questions and the answers. When a child gets an answer correct, He or she places a chip (a pawn)  on the States board. The winner is the person who answers 49 questions.
The instruction manual says that most of the questions in this game are at the level of eighth or ninth grade… students who are ready to go into high school. However many of the questions are at a much lower level to accommodate younger players.
This intriguing game is in good condition. The main flaw is the box, Which has lots of damage and chipping, and parts of the cover which have fallen off or are missing. However the interior parts …  the actual parts are used to play the game, are still in quite good condition.  The book has a little bit of wear, a little bit of damage to the corners,  but all the pages are solid and there are no tears or flaws in the book. The spinner dial still works well. The pawns are in good condition, as well as the game piece with the states on it.
Please see all of the photos above, to make it clear what the game is about, and the confirm it's condition.
It goes without saying that many of the questions are related to the times… 1928 and before… and the questions might cover topics that children don't learn in school these days. There is information that has changed since the time of this game was put out. For example we now have two additional states. We've had several additional wars, there have been changes in government, new politicians,  and we've learned a lot more about natural history.
