They don't contain petrochemicals, plastics or other 'planet-unsafe' components, their material naturally decays into organic matter in up to 1-3 and 2-4 months in commercial and home composting facilities, respectively. Sturdy and freezer/microwave safe, they proved to be a practical and economic alternative to similar plastic and paper products. *Does not fit 8-16oz lid
